Music in Monmouth
Great musical afternoon in August

Rockfield Studios...
Where Chris Martin wrote Yellow (his producer said when they walked outside - ‘look at the stars, see how they shine’ and when Chris was wondering what to name the song, he saw a Yellow Pages!
Where Noel sat on the wall to write Wonder Wall - this wall is now called, you guessed it, Wonder Wall.
Where Noel and Liam had one of their big fights on the lawn outside the (basic) accommodation.
Where Ozzy first recorded a song, when he was just 17 and most (if not all) his albums were recorded there.
Where Freddie Mercury (who I saw in concert 39 years ago), recorded Bohemiam Rhapsody, and played frisbie here with Amanda, Kingsley’s daughter.
Where there's an echo chamber (actually there are 3) where the pipes underneath send the recorded sound, it goes up into the room, then is sent back to the studio with an echo!
Where so many big names have played their instruments, written their songs, and stayed days, weeks, even months - and continue to do so now...Manic Street Preachers, Adam and that Ants, Proclaimers, Robert Plant, Judas Priest, Julian Lennon, Simple Minds, Motorhead, Iggy Pop, Bonnie Tyler, Rush, Stone Roses, Supergrass, Altered Images, Clannad, Robbie Williams, Mark Owen, Paolo Nutini and so many more: https://www.famousfix.com/list/albums-recorded-at-rockfield-studios
Where we lived just five minutes up the road for 10 years and never visited until we left!!
It's really worth booking on a tour if you can. Kingsley Ward and his daughter Amanda have so many amazing stories to tell.
Be prepared to sing and maybe even dance!! They even sang “Sweet Caroline” when I turned up late and flustered!
Excellent afternoon.
