Getting ready for Canada!

Prepping for the big trip

Getting ready for Canada!

I've known Gail since we met at senior school, a very long time ago. She emigrated to Canada about 18 years ago, and I've been thinking about visiting for a long time. My Dad died before COVID, so once the pandemic was over, and thanks to some money he left, I was able to book a trip. Unfortunately, due to the fires last September it had to be postponed.

So in 3 weeks and 3 days, I will be on my way!!! I'm getting very excited. I'm going to have nearly 3 weeks with a great friend, and see a beautiful country and do some fun things.

Gail's arranged everything - accommodation, ferries, hire car, whale watching, etc etc. I've just got to get myself there. Now, that should be easy, but I'm not a great traveller, and I'll be on my own which is scary. Yes, I'm a mature lady with a tongue in my head, but I'll be worrying madly as the time comes nearer. But it wouldn't be me, if I didn't worry!

I have tried to make life easier for myself though, so I have a hotel booked for the night before, to make sure I'm in the area in plenty of time, I've booked Meet and Greet, so I don't have to park miles away and then get on a bus lugging big case and (my new) ruck sack and my very nice (new) bag. I've even booked assistance. I hate the idea of sitting in a wheelchair, but the walk to the gate will no doubt be miles, and I'll be in agony even before enduring the 11 hour flight. Not only that, but when we arrive in Calgary, I will be met off the plane and taken to the next gate, so in theory I don't have to worry about changing flights. Of course I will, but hopefully the double brandy(s) when I am on the plane will calm the nerves somewhat! And of course, I'll have all the films to watch, and I do love films.

I've got to sort out my outfit for the flight. Something lose and comfortable is what I want. However lose and comfortable just makes me look humungous. No doubt I'll end of up in jeans. Let's face it, I live in jeans.

I've got a list of what's left to buy.
I've got a list of the things I need to do before I leave (thank you Google tasks).
I've got a list of what I need to take.
I'll worry about forgetting something, but it won't be the end of the world will it, as long as it's not my drugs!
Oh God, don't let me forget my drugs.

I'm looking forward to blogging about my trip. It's going to be a once in a lifetime trip. Unless of course I do it again!
