Relax and recharge

A relaxing couple of days ahead of our next trip.
Sunday started with breakfast and then the jacuzzi. Who needs a massage when you have a jacuzzi?! I was able to get all my sore spots 'zapped'!
I spent the next couple of hours or so sitting in the shade, with a light wind keeping me cool, reading my book. Very nice.
In the afternoon we took the hire car back to the airport and Paul picked us up and drove us to Kelowna. I really liked the beach area. There were some lovely properties on the beachfront but apparently they're sinking, so perhaps they're not so lovely! We went to the supermarket to get some mussels. I also bought two t-shirts and a blouse. I had planned to buy some beers but of course there were none. This supermarket could only sell BC produced alcohol. No beer is produced here. We also went up to West Kelowna where there had been a fire last year. Sad to see the black trees. I think of the animals that must have died. Lots of people lost their homes too. Talking of homes we saw a big group of homeless people too. They had tents but not much else and how do they manage in the freezing winters? Life's not fair for some.
On a lighter note, tea was the New Zealand green mussels in a green Thai sauce which was delicious. Gail and I spent the evening playing games on our phones: wordle, connections and vertex.
Who needs an alarm clock when Maggie the dog sees Paul! She barks at him, waking us all up! So I was up promptish although not early enough to join Gail on the dog walk or to pop to the DIY store with Paul.
Later Paul took us around the lake (Okanagan) to Summerland, Penticton and Naramata. We had a lovely coffee and a delicious coffee cake in Naramata. There was no coffee in the cake (good!) just rhubarb and other fruits. Really sweet garden there.
We went past so many vineyards. They call it the Napa Valley. I'm surprised grapes can grow in Canada bearing in mind how cold it gets in the winter. It was interesting being driven around. I like seeing the different scenery and the houses and shops. I really like the houses that have a verandah. The fruit shops are called fruit stands which is sweet. There are even marijuana shops - it's legal in Canada.
We stopped at a vineyard for lunch - Bistro 19 at Fitz. Nice bottle of red, a couple of sharing plates: prawn crevits and tater tots, followed by delicious salad and pizza. I also had a Pinkety Dinkety when the wine ran out. I forced down a dessert which was apple cinnamon pizza and coconut cream. Very nice. Back to Gail's and straight out of jeans into my roomy pj bottoms! Phew I was feeling full up.
